Heteromeles arbutifolia (Toyon)

Un-common native, perennial shrub found on slopes above creeks (including lower Atascadero Creek and upper Cieneguitas Creek) and in chaparral. Flowers are white. Blooms in fall and winter. Has distinctive red berries in late fall and winter.
